Fall Color Update
The first week of October is upon us, and the mountain foliage, true to form, is beginning to make the transition to the color that brings so much attention here in the fall. Typically, this region experiences the change in color around the middle of October, but many factors contribute to variations in where and when the color will peak. These factors include East/West facing slopes, temperatures, and most importantly, elevation. The colors in and around the Cashiers, NC area are showing red Sourwood, Dogwood, maybe some early Maples, and even Virginia Creeper. Color should be delightful this next week, yet it will likely be at least another week or so before we start to see peak leaf color here at the Preserve.
