Fall Color is Coming to The Preserve

It's that time of year again... Fall has arrived here in the mountains of western North Carolina!  You know it by the smell of wood smoke and apple butter boiling, mountain craft festivals and events, and most notably by the magnificent displays of colorful foliage that make this area famous.

There is no better way to truly experience the beauty of this area and to see what the Preserve at Rock Creek is all about than to come and see for yourself!  We invite you to visit us by taking advantage of our luxurious Discovery Package.

Fall Color Update

The first week of October is upon us, and the mountain foliage, true to form, is beginning to make the transition to the color that brings so much attention here in the fall.  Typically, this region experiences the change in color around the middle of October, but many factors contribute to variations in where and when the color will peak. These factors include East/West facing slopes, temperatures, and most importantly, elevation.

The colors in and around the Cashiers, NC area are showing red Sourwood, Dogwood, maybe some early Maples, and even Virginia Creeper.  Color should be delightful this next week, yet it will likely be at least another week or so before we start to see peak leaf color here at the Preserve.

Colorfest (Catch the Spirit of Appalachia)

October 22, Sylva

Colorfest, Art of the Blue Ridge, will be held on October 22, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. in downtown Sylva. Over 40 local and regional fine artists will demonstrate their art form in this third annual street Art Fair.

16th Annual Old Time Music Competition
